Wet Finish, Big Wins, and New Racers on Wednesday Street Night

The Wednesday Street Night with test and tune on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Lebanon Valley Dragway started out as a great night and ended a wee bit on the wet side cancelling the final round of Sportsman ET. A night when the weather forecast was minimal for showers or rain, showed up at the end of the night like a freight train and as the last cars lined up for the final, disbursed precipitation ending the night.
So, for those still with the question about test and tune on Wednesday nights, here are some answers. Yes. All vehicles are welcome to test and tune. This includes vehicles with slicks, mufflers, no mufflers, street tires, motorcycles, sleds, junior dragsters, junior street. New racers. Old racers.
What is no time or single lane passes you ask? No time means that there are no times displayed on the score boards. It doesn’t mean that you won’t get a time slip. You will still receive a time slip for your information, as long as you wait for the tree to activate.
A single lane pass is just that. You run by yourself. Alone. With no competitor in the other lane. Why would you do this? Well. Someone who has never driven down the track may do this so they can learn how to stage without worrying about someone in the other lane waiting for them. Or they may do it so that they can get a feel for the track and not be concerned about someone else other than themselves.
That’s the education for the week. Now on to some results from the classes that did finish.
Street Trophy this week had the largest number of competitors this season which was awesome to see. Street Trophy is meant for those racers who want to dip their toe in the water of competition but aren’t quite ready to play with the big boys and girls. Edward Munter of Stamford, CT took the win over a new racer, Richard Schneider of Clifton Park, NY in the final round. Mike Seeger of East Nassau, NY and Tom McClurg of Hillsdale, NY finished in the semi-finals.
I know some weeks are short on the blog and only give the results and maybe answer some questions, but this week, I need to take a moment to tell a story. There was a spectator at a recent event who had a car that he would love to race but had never raced. We were running a Friday test session at the time along with drifting. He came in the office/novelty and asked what he would need to do as he had nothing with him.
We rent helmets in the office/novelty area, we sell pants, we also sell fire jackets, helmets and other equipment needed for racing thanks to K.B. Performance who has a small speed shop in there. So, we set him up with the basics that he needed and off he went for the first pass in his life on a drag strip. Needless to say, he came back, brought some friends to try it, talked to other racers, asked questions and tried it again. He’s learning and decided to race in the Trophy class where on this night he took home some hardware for his runner-up finish. Good for him! Congratulations.

In Street Stick, Michael St. Martin of Huntington, MA took the win over Mark LeBlanc of North Smithfield, RI. Jack Sheeley of Millbrook, NY and Vince Berzal of Saugerties, NY finished in the semi-finals.

In Pure Street Motorcycle, Desmond White of Springfield, MA took the win over Chris Cunningham of Nassau, NY in the final round. Guy Gardner of Stuyvesant, NY and Duke Huyck of Valatie, NY finished in the semi-finals.
In Sportsman, like I said, it was down to the final round when Mother Nature had her temper tantrum and cut their night short. Joe Coss and Joe Horacek, Sr split the purse for the final. Joe Horacek Jr and Robert Stocklas finished their night before the rain and lost in the semi-finals.
One more week for points. The final points night for Sportsman, Street Stick and Pure Street Motorcycle will be Wednesday, August 19. However, this does not mean that the classes won’t race on future Wednesdays.
As a reminder, there will be no racing or test and tune on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The track will be closed to racing so that racers coming in for the Northeast Bracket Finals will be able to park for the event.
Everyone that leaves their trailers/cars/campers in the pit area are asked that all vehicles be removed from the pit area by the end of racing on Sunday, August 23. No exceptions. We need the space to be able to park racers for the bracket finals, so plan ahead to get your belongings moved. Please don’t be “that” person. Thanks for your assistance.
