It’s becoming clear that this racing season is shaping up to look a lot like last year’s—Friday was great, Saturday not so much, and Sunday brought challenging conditions. The day started cold and windy, with nearly every type of weather thrown our way. Despite it all, we completed the event, thanks to everyone who attended and helped create a memorable day honoring the life of Pete Bushnell, who passed unexpectedly last year.

On Friday, May 1, 2026, Lebanon Valley Dragway in West Lebanon, New York hosted the first No Times/No Rules event of the season. The event featured an extended seven-hour track rental with radial track preparation. For those who missed it, another No Times/No Rules event is scheduled for Friday, May 29, followed by a second event on Saturday, May 30.

Unfortunately, Saturday’s racing was cancelled as Mother Nature had other plans, bringing rain throughout the day.
Sunday, May 3, began cold and bleak, with brief glimpses of snow, sleet, and rain showers.
However, the conditions did not dampen the spirit of the event. With a strong turnout, the first Summit ET Points race of the season, sponsored by LaPoint Automotive in memory of Pete Bushnell, got underway, featuring $5,000 to win in both Pro and Super Eliminators.

In Super Pro, Mike Rogers of Troy, NY took top honors, defeating John Ringuette of North Attleboro, MA in the final. Grant Nichols Sr. of Marlborough, CT and Dickie Copertino of Torrington, CT finished their days in the semifinals.

In Pro Eliminator, Billy Kirpens Jr. of Pittsfield, MA claimed the win over Shawn Nichols of Marlborough, CT in the final. Ben DeYoung of Napanoch, NY finished in the semifinals.

Francis Supczak of Ware, MA defeated Shawn Rainey of Waterford, CT in the Motorcycle/Sled final. Louie Supczak of Ware, MA and Jonathan Gagnon of Napanoch, NY completed their runs in the semifinals.

In Junior Dragsters, Hudson Bleakley of Carmel, NY secured the victory over Giuseppe Porfilio of East Longmeadow, MA. Mason Spinelli of Latham, NY and Sal Musolino of Bridgeport, NY finished in the semifinals.

Junior Street competition saw Gavin Russo of Norfolk, CT defeat John Couture of Manchester, CT in the final round. Colin Morin of Chicopee, MA and Ryleigh Morgan of Ballston Spa, NY finished in the semifinals.

In Open Trophy, Carly Charron earned her first win by defeating Rob V. in his ’22 Ford F‑350.

The Northeast Timing Organization (NETO) and East Coast Gassers also held their first meets of the season at Lebanon Valley.
Kyle Torres of East Bridgewater, MA defeated Mike Wheeler of Warrenton, VA in the Gassers final.
