On Sunday, October 9, 2022 a special race where the winner receives a special NHRA "Wally Trophy was held in both the Summit ET categories and the Junior Dragster Category.
Known as the "King of the Track", this race combines the winners of the classes in Sportsman, Super, Pro and Motorcycle at the end of the day in a run-off for the special trophy and the title of "King of the Track".
Leading up to the run-off William Blaker III of New Rochelle, NY defeated Keith Lauzier of Winsted, CT with Dave Henry of Ballston Lake, NY and Pete Bushnell of Manchester, CT finishing in the semi-finals of Super Eliminator.
In Pro Eliminator, Scott Beecher of Winsted, CT defeated Billy Kirpens, Jr of Pittsfield, MA in the final with Jonathan Gagnon of Pleassant Valley, CT finished in the semi-finals.
Jonathan Tisdale of Napanoch, NY defeated Brian Propper of Malta, NY in the final of Motorcycle/Sled with Adam Rutkauskas of Waterbury, CT finishing in the semi-finals.
Michael Bloch of Colchester, CT had won the Sportsman class during the Wednesday night street series and participated in Sunday's race to get ready for the final race at the end of the day.
Now that all the winners in all the categories were set up, the King of the Track run off could be held. The final results of the race were William Blaker III of New Rochelle, NY, Super Eliminator winner defeating Scott Beecher of Winsted, CT, the Pro Winner. Michael Bloch of Colchester, CT, the Sportsman winner and Jonathan Tisdale of Napanoch, NY, the Motorcycle winner finished their day in the Semi-Finals.
In the Open Trophy class, Bob Briggs of Chaplin, CT defeated Michael Charron of Hebron, CT with John Aulisio of Pittsfield, MA and Bob Tiemann of Schenectady, NY ending their day in the semi-finals.
In the Junior Dragster division, a special "Wally" was awarded to the winner of the class. Zach Zibella of Hudson, NY took home the special trophy when he defeated Danielle Ticcony of Marlboro, NY in the final. Caroline Billetts of Rensselaer, NY finished in the semi-finals.
