Lebanon Valley Dragway will host the NHRA Northeast Division Junior Drag Racing League Championships this week. The Valley of Speed will welcome drivers and their families from all over the northeast ages 6 to 17 years old beginning on Thursday, August 5, 2021 with a test and tune session and gamblers races followed up by more racing and qualifying on Friday, August 6, Race of Champions and a pit party for participants. Saturday, August 7, the racing will conclude with the main race in all of the age categories.
Junior Dragsters are half-scale size version of the Top Fuel Dragsters, powered by a single cycle 5 horsepower engine. These vehicles run as fast as 7.90 seconds at 85 miles per hour in the eighth mile (660 feet). Competitors are divided into age groups 6-9 years old, 10-12, 13-14, and 15+.
A new division of Junior Street will be contested this year. Junior Street is a new program in NHRA that encourages young pre-drivers, ages 13 to 16 to compete in a full body street vehicle. Along with their adult co-driver as their team mate, these competitors race to the 1/8 mile.
Racers and families will travel from many NHRA Tracks from the Northeast Division including racers from Atco Dragway, Atco, New Jersey; Island Dragway, Great Meadows, New Jersey; Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun, Maryland; New England Dragway, Epping, New Hampshire; Mason Dixon Dragway, Boonsboro, Maryland; Maple Grove Dragway, Mohnton, Pennsylvania; Numidia Dragway, Numidia, Pennsylvania to join the team from Lebanon Valley Dragway to crown the best of the best in the junior racing divisions.
Bring the family see some of the greatest young racers in the Northeast. Walk through the pit area and talk to the drivers. Come on out and support the next generation of up and coming racers.
Thursday-Gates open at 12pm; Racing from 3-8pm
Friday- Gates open at 8am; Racing begins at 10am; Race of Champions 12pm
Saturday- Gates open at 8am; Racing at 9am
