On Saturday, May 20, 2023, there was a schedule for the second race of the North East Super Steet Association (NESSA). The first race had been rained out a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately, the forecast for rain all week changed and the rain held off until the afternoon so we were able to get most of the racing in for the day.
In the end, all other classes completed and Mike Fitts and Mike Jones who were in the final of NESSA, decided to shake hands and split the win as showers finally threatened to end the day.
The Northeast Timing Organization (NETO) made their first appearance too on the first day of their double header weekend. Both the NETO Competition class and the NETO Nostalgia class completed their day and their finals.
NETO Competition saw Brian English of Norwalk, CT take the win over Vinny Laurita Sr of Lagrangeville, NY. Jerry Deslandes of Holmes, NY and Caroline Galvin of Danbury, CT finished in the semi-finals.
In NETO Nostalgia, Frank Paradiso Jr of Marlboro, NJ won over Dick Coleman of Bristol, CT. John Elsea of Vernon, NJ and Tyler Segara of New Milford, CT lost in the semi-finals.
A race in Super Comp (10.90 with a pro tree) was held. Tom Couture of Enfield, CT deeated Wil Beach of Patterson, NY in the final. David Pilbin of Norfork, CT and Lewis Benea of Windsor Lock, finished in the semi-finals.
The last class that ran on Saturday was the Non-Electronic Gamblers. Jeff Andrews of Pittsfield, MA defeated Rob Ibbitson in the final.
