Lebanon Valley Dragway Racers take the Win, Both Near and Far


2024 JDRL Team LV

Saturday, August 24, 2024 was a busy day at Lebanon Valley Dragway, not only for those in attendance at the track but also for those Junior Dragsters and their families who traveled to South Mountain Dragway in Pennsylvania to compete as Team LV in the NHRA Division 1 Junior Drag Racing League Bracket Finals, where they competed against other teams from other track in Division 1 to crown track champions as well as individual champions. But first, let's cover the racing from the home track.


Racers attended Lebanon Valley on Saturday for another points meet in the Port A Tree Gamblers races, which were 1/8 mile races in both the electronic class and non-electronic class. Scott Carpenter took the victory over Brian Ouillette in the non-electronic class with TJ Gennett and George McGuigan, Jr finishing their day in the semi-finals.


Mark Beaton of Torrington, CT defeated Al Owens of Hyde Park, NY in the final of Electronic Gamblers. Rob day finished his day in the semi-finals.


The Central Mass Drag Racers had another meet at Lebanon Valley. Michael Dombroski of Spencer, MA took the win over Matt Brooks of Auburn, MA in the final round. Peter Kavalorek of Worcester, MA finished in the semi-finals.


The North East Super Street Association had their first race of two on the weekend where Mike Falcone of Wolcott, CT defeated Karl Wright of East Longmeadow, MA. Steve McCauliff of Enfield, CT finished in the semi-finals.


Traveling to South Mountain Dragway, we will cover the results from the Junior Dragster Race. Congratulations to one and all for supporting each other in an overall success weekend. First, congratulations to the team for receiving the Team Spirit Award. Secondly, congratulations to all those who participated and finished tied for second place. Maple Grove Dragway took first.


Now, onto some individual accolades. Mason Spinelli of Latham, NY took the win in the junior gamblers race on Friday. Juleyn Laughran Carter of Bernardston, MA took the win in the junior street gamblers and Haley Powers of Hampden, MA was the runner-up in junior street. Caroline Billetts of Rensselaer, NY made it down to the final 5 in the junior pro tree dial in gamblers.


On Saturday, the day of the big races, Mason Spinelli made it a back to back win, when he took top honors in the 13-14 year old bracket category, which was an awesome accomplishment. Congratulations to Mason and his family on a great job.


Now as a side note, Mason's grandpa, Jon Petrecky of Latham, NY, was a long time racer and track champion at Lebanon Valley in Super Eliminator. Sunday's race at Lebanon Valley was scheduled as a second annual memorial race in his honor. Your grandpa would be proud.
